J-1 Internship Program
Our J-1 Internship Program offers international students and recent graduates the chance to participate in a structured internship program with a prestigious hotel or resort in the USA
Our J-1 Internship program will give you the chance to take part in on-the-job training that will let you put the theory learned in the classroom into practice. You will come away with firsthand knowledge and experience of how the hospitality industry works and have the chance to develop important skills to help you land that dream job in the future. Do all this while living in the USA for an extended period and experiencing another culture. Plus at the end of your Internship Program you will have the chance to travel around the USA before returning home.
How long does it last?
The J-1 Internship Program lasts up to a maximum of 12 months. Most employers will require a full 12 month commitment, some employers have opportunities for 4 or 6 month programs. At the end of the Internship Program you are able to travel for up to 30 days before departing the USA.
Who can participate?
Our J-1 Internship Program is open to students studying on hospitality, tourism, or culinary courses or recent graduates from one of these courses who have an active interest in supplementing their education and developing their skills through on-the-job training. To participate in our J-1 Internship Program you must be:
- A student currently enrolled on a Hospitality, Tourism or Culinary degree or certificate granting program at an institution outside the USA, OR having graduated from this type of institution with a Hospitality, Tourism or Culinary qualification no more than 12 months prior to starting your internship.
- At least 18 years of age
- Able to demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of English
- Willing to take part in on-the-job training with enthusiasm, dedication and a desire to learn and grow!
What internships are available?
International Adventures has exciting internship placements available all across the United States in some of the most prominent vacation resorts and convention destinations. We have placed Interns with leading hotel companies including Omni, Marriott, Wyndham, Westin, Hyatt, St. Regis, Renaissance and many more. Internship opportunities primarily exist in the following divisions:
- Front Office
- Rooms Division
- Recreation
- Food and Beverage
- Culinary
When can I start?
You can take part in an Internship program during the course of your studies or start a program within 12 months of completing your studies. International Adventures has Intern Programs commencing throughout the year and can coordinate a start date to work with your availability. The Intern Program can last up to a maximum of 12 months. Most employers will require a full 12 month commitment. Some employers have opportunities for 4 or 6 month programs, however these may have more restricted start dates.
